Writing with humor or a light heart comes easily, but doing so with condemnation or anger can prove difficult. To touch upon a heartrending topic is tough, because then you relive that tragic event one more time. And you weep . . . one more time.
Sometimes, however, you have to take a stand, or voice a comment, about something that is so despicable you can no longer remain silent in hopes it will cease. It won’t. Sadly, it likely never will.
Forgive and forget is a valid credo, but isn’t always possible to uphold in certain situations. Animal cruelty boggles the mind. How could anyone hurt, maim, or kill a helpless, defenseless creature? Matthieu Arbour and Angele Lazurko left a one-year-old Lab in a sweltering car. What were they thinking? Were they thinking? Did they care? Was shopping at the mall that much more important?
Did you know that a blisteringly hot environment like that will cause a brain to melt? It’s a horrendously painful death. Do people like Arbour and Lazurko truly believe animals experience no pain, have no feelings, are disposable? For shame!
Ted Shuttleworth allegedly punched his little poodle Lola in the face. The result: a traumatic brain injury causing death. Why? The wee pooch annoyed him. Good reason Ted! The next time you annoy me, I’ll make sure to do the same—not. Lucky for you, I’m patient and caring, not mean-hearted or mindless. But I digress. The optimum word here is allegedly. A fabulous grace-saving word for the allegedly guilty; a travesty for the allegedly mistreated or dead.
Nicholas and Brooklyn Ferris were taken into custody after two dead dogs were found on their property. Neglect through starvation. Oh, and Nicholas actually got angry at a neighbour for having called the Humane Society. Gotta love the guy—not. We live in the 21st century and heinous crimes still run rampant. Some people may not view animals with the same love and compassion I and others do, but those same people would not [God willing] inflict similar pain on family members. Think about it folks, please!
More often than not perpetrators go unpunished. These vile acts cannot be excused, forgotten, or downplayed. As sickening as the stories are, they need to be relayed. Awareness needs to be raised. As a blog writer, I have to share the anger, revulsion, frustration, and powerless I experience every time I read or hear of such horrendous mis-treatment.
I’m a goodhearted person, patient and caring. But there are times when I can’t forgive and forget, when I have to express my fury by letting it spill out across the page. So to the Arbours, Shuttleworths and Ferrises of the world: may people like you rot in Hell. May the horned one below demonstrate as little mercy to you as you did to those you’ve harmed and destroyed. May you reside in a 4’X5’ box in 50° heat until eternity itself comes to pass.
Take that as a lesson. You’re frustrated, annoyed? Take your emotions out on the page, not your pet. Anger management might do you a world of good, too. But I digress . . . .
