Paraguay police nab parrot raiders—these magnificent birds were stolen from their very nests.
It doesn’t end, does it? The abuse? The poaching? The trafficking? It’s beyond disgusting and appalling, and to say it makes me sad and angry would be an understatement.
I’ve planned for 2013 to be a great year; my best one yet. I’ve wished it for others. A positive, cheery outlook is what I intend to maintain year-round . . . but it will be a challenge to this lover of animals when stories like this abound.
Poaching and trafficking: upshots of greed. It’s a wretched human vice.
Money is wonderful; I’ll freely admit I’m as fond of it as the next person. But I’m not about to kill or maim any living creature to thicken my wallet or fatten my bank account. I’d rather live in a tin shack than have a price on my soul. How tragic that there are people out there who hold no compassion or kindness and, despite their brutal ways, can look at themselves in the mirror with no misgiving or shame.
I’ll continue to believe that this year will be a great one . . . just as I’ll continue to believe that people can see the light and find goodness deep within.
It’s within every human being’s capability to embrace charity and mercy, and cease cruelty. It only need be done. Now wouldn’t that make for a wonderful world? Yes, an idealistic view I’ll admit, but then nothing is truly impossible.
Given a chance, inhumanity can transform into humanity. Amen.
