I’d never heard of the “Harlem Shake” until I caught a news story the other day. A group of Colorado students on a Frontier flight, with the approval of the crew apparently, got the passengers to engage in the dance.
It looked kinda cool actually. Instead of sitting in narrow seats and watching a small screen on the seat in front, reading airline mags, or listening to tinny music (unless there were personal kill-the-boredom devices), there was an atmosphere of fun. People of all ages were having a good time, cutting loose.
I’m not a fan of flying as it is and the thought of everyone moving their booty in a contained aircraft (regardless of size) scares the <bleep> out of me. A bit of turbulence and I’m a petrified jellyfish (imagine that if you will), never mind having the plane shakin’, rockin’ and rollin’ courtesy of a group of exuberant Harlem Shakers.
Still, everyone appeared to be having a blast. It’s not too often you see a group of strangers engaging in a mission: to shoot a fun vid. Even if the FAA “wasn’t amused”, I was.
