This Sunday past, Dr. Buddy Bell (Ministry of HELPS International) visited Evangel Temple. The rousing sermon was fabulously funny, as well as thought-provoking. You couldn’t walk away and not be inspired.
Amid the anecdotes and jokes, Brother Buddy made several key points related to his ministry and church goers in general. The one that resonated most: helping God. It’s not just about attending a house of worship; it’s about hearing God’s voice, listening and doing. In terms of the church, why not become an usher, a nursery minder, or an offering/tithe bucket carrier? Outside, why not spread the word or be more compassionate and kind? Become active. Don’t look thoughtful, or vacuous, or pretend that maybe you misheard the Great One. Do something.
I’ve frequently requested help and guidance from above; heaven knows (truly!) I need to be shown the way. It’s possible the answer has already come and I haven’t comprehended it (my head’s often in the clouds). Or maybe a communication hasn’t yet been delivered; He’ll advise when the moment is right.
After all, there’s a path—a plan—for each and every one of us. Sometimes it simply doesn’t become obvious until much later in life, when wisdom and maturity bestow the vision we’ve always believed we possessed, but were too young or inexperienced to realize.
